Creating Consignments in BigChange

Creating Consignments in BigChange is an effective and convenient way of getting a collection of serialised stock items onto a Job and sent to site for use on the job.

This guide will walk you through the process of creating a consignment and adding it to a job.

Stock Vs Equipment. In summary, the main difference lies in their purpose and management: stock is consumable and often sold or used up such as light bulbs, while equipment is durable and used to facilitate operations and usally have a serial number such as a boiler. BigChange provides tools to manage both effectively, ensuring that businesses can track and optimise their resources.

To create a Consignment you need to already have some serialised equipment in the BigChange system.

  1. Navigate to the "Stock & Equipment" section in the top menu.
  2. Select "Consignments" from the side menu.
  3. Select the "Create a consignment +" link to start a new consignment.

Naming Your Consignment

  • Provide a name for your consignment to easily identify it later.

Adding Serialised Items

  • Select the "+ Add stock or equipment" link to begin adding items.

  1. Enter the serial number of the item you wish to add and press enter.
  2. Select the "Add+" icon to include the item in the consignment.

Finalising Your Consignment

  • Continue adding items until your consignment is complete.
  • Once all items are added, your consignment is ready to be linked to a job.

Adding a Consignment to a Job

  • Navigate to the schedule section.
  • Select an existing job or create a new job as needed.
  • Select the stock tab within the job.
  • Select the "+Add a stock item" option.

  • Select the "Stock item will be" from the dropdown list.
  • Select the appropriate consignment type.
  • Additional fields will appear, such as "Where will stock be picked up from."
  • Enter the name of the consignment you wish to add to the job.
  • Select the "Add" icon to finalise the addition.

Once you have added the consignment to the job, you will then see each item listed individually under the stock & equipment tab on the job. These stock items will behave just like any other stock added to jobs.
