Private Mileage

When vehicles with trackers are used privately, employees have data protection rights to keep their data private. BigChange offers four different options for private mode tracking:

• Private button in vehicle - Private Button
• Driver ID in vehicle - Driver ID
• Back office private mode (out of working hours)
• Resource tracking private mode

Regardless of the method chosen, vehicles and resources will show in private mode on the map:

Under Account Settings > Settings > Resources > Add - Edit > Resource > Edit, resources can have working hours set by ticking a box. The vehicle will be in private mode outside these hours.

Important note: If a resource starts a journey within working hours and the journey travels over these hours, the journey will not be private. If a resource starts a journey outside working hours and moves into their working hours - this journey will remain private.

To enable this functionality, a setting for 'Disable private mode on device' can found by following these steps:

1. Navigate to Account Settings
2. Select Settings
3. From the side menu, select Account.
4. Select Account Settings.

Private Mileage Report

Within the Analytics & Reporting feature, you will see a Private Mileage Report which covers the number of miles and the amount of time spent in 'private' mode.

After the report is generated, it will show only the mileage and time spent in private mode. The actual private tracking data is stored but won't be visible on the map or in this report.

Gathering Private Tracking Data

In some scenarios, we understand the actual private tracking data may be needed. It is possible to request this but we will require approval from a Director on companies house. In these circumstances, please contact Support who will be able to assist.
