Hardware - Driver ID

BigChange offers an additional driver ID setup that can be installed alongside vehicle trackers. This feature allows a resource to automatically assign themselves to a vehicle each time it is used. Resources can have both a Business and Private key/fob to allow them to switch.

Understanding of Driver ID:

• Each driver is issued with a small contact tag. Every time they start the engine they must touch the tag on the reader to identify themselves.

• To ensure compliance, when the ignition is turned on a loud buzzer hidden in the dash sounds until a tag is touched.

Driver ID Configurations

When the driver switches off the ignition the association between driver and vehicle is cancelled after a 20-minute delay. If the ignition is turned on again within this period, the association is retained. The delay before the association between the driver and vehicle can be changed after installation by contacting our Support team.

Driver ID Setup

The ID number of the tag is entered against the driver in the ‘Edit’ pop-up under My Account > Administration > Resources > Add/Edit.

The tag number is entered in the ‘Business key’ or the 'Private key' field depending on which fob this is for.

Do not enter the leading and trailing pairs of digits (shown on the tag above the main number) only the 12-digit hexadecimal number shown on one line.

Make sure the vehicle doesn’t have a fixed resource assigned. Select ‘Fixed resource’ > ‘No’ in the ‘Edit’ pop-up under My Account > Administration > Vehicles > Add/Edit.

Map Display

On the JobWatch map display (and for reporting) the driver can be seen against the vehicle when they have touched a tag.
