Mitac Cameras: Setup, Maintenance and Features

  • Updated

This article provides a guide on how to setup, maintain, and use the features of Mitac Camera within BigChange.

Understanding the Basic Configuration of Mitac Cameras

To view your camera footage, go to the Map view on BigChange. The events will appear as clickable icons, allowing you to view and download the video footage.

The cameras will be linked to your vehicles within the system (completed by BigChange).

The camera can record audio, but this feature is turned off by default for security reasons.

The resolution and quality of footage is set by BigChange and cannot be changed for individual customers or cameras.

Storing and Accessing Footage

Footage is stored for 90 days. Storage is cloud-based, ensuring your footage is accessible and safely secured.

The cameras record when the ignition is turned on and continue to record for another 30 seconds after the ignition is turned off.

Triggering Events

The available footage will only show if there is an event triggered within the camera.  Events can be triggered manually by pressing the panic button (red button located on the back of the camera, shown below), or automatically by harsh acceleration, harsh braking, harsh cornering, parking impact, frontal collision, tailgating, lane departure, stop and go, phone usage, seatbelt unfastened, school zone speed violation, speed camera – speeding alert, rolling stop, geofence (TBC), and distraction.Mitac.png

Troubleshooting

  • If the camera is not powering on, check if the power cable is connected securely and there is no loose contact. If the issue persists, raise a service call.
  • If ADAS Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) warnings are not being generated, confirm the driver's side setup, camera installation location, and camera height settings from the installation notes. If everything is correct, raise the issue with the Hardware team.
  • If Driver Management System (DMS) warnings are not being generated, confirm the driver's side setup, camera installation location, and camera height settings from the installation notes. If everything is correct, raise the issue with the Hardware team.
