In BigChange, job constraints help ensure that the correct person or vehicle is assigned to a job. This feature is particularly useful for maintaining quality and compliance, such as ensuring only qualified technicians are dispatched or vehicles with specific attributes are used. This article will guide you through the process of setting constraints in BigChange.
Navigating to Constraints
- Navigate to: [Top menu] Profile (icon) → Admin Settings → [Quick links menu] → Manage job types → Edit → Constraints tab.
Types of Constraints
BigChange offers three types of constraints:
- Time
- Resource
- Vehicle.
You can choose any or all of these constraints and even have multiple constraints of the same type.
Time Constraints
- Select the Time icon to add a Time constraint.
- Specify whether a job must be started before or after a certain time or completed before a certain time.
- Set the condition of the constraint.
- Select ok when you have created your constraint.
Resource and Vehicle Constraints
- Select either the Resource or Vehicle constraint.
- Choose a Group of resources or vehicles, a specific Resource or Vehicle, or a Skill or Attribute.
- For example, an out-of-hours job could have constraints set to a resource with the “Out of Hours” skill, a vehicle with a specific attribute (e.g., tow bar), and a completion time within 2 hours.
Alerts and Notifications
- If you attempt to create a job that does not meet the set requirements, the system will alert you.
- You can override these alerts if necessary.
- Additionally, you can create an alert to be notified prior to a skill expiring for one of your resources.
Conclusion
Setting constraints in BigChange ensures that jobs are assigned to the right resources and vehicles, maintaining quality and compliance. Follow the steps outlined in this article to set up your constraints effectively. For further assistance, visit our Help Centre or contact support.
