BigChange Pay on Mobile: Efficient Payment Processing

BigChange Pay on Mobile is a new feature within the BigChange App designed to streamline job-related financial transactions. This functionality allows field resources to accept payments directly from customers and issue on-site receipts upon job completion. Invoices are automatically updated as paid within BigChange, offering real-time transaction visibility for your accounting team.

BigChange Pay early access must be enabled by BigChange. An integration with BlueSnap is required.

Getting Started with BigChange Pay

  • BigChange Pay early access must be enabled by BigChange.
  • An integration with BlueSnap is required.
  • For detailed setup instructions, refer to the Help Centre article: BigChange Pay and BlueSnap.
  • Once setup and integration are complete, you can enable BigChange Pay on mobile.

Enable Payment on Your Job Types

Configuring Job Types for Payment

  1. Navigate to: [Top menu] Account settings (icon)
  2. Settings.
  3. Schedule [side menu]
  4. Job types.
  5. Select and edit the Job type you wish to enable payment for.
  6. Go to Device Tab and tick the "Resources can take payment" checkbox.
  7. Save your changes.

Enable Payment for Named Resources

Configuring Resources for Payment

  1. Navigate to: [Top menu] Account settings (icon)
  2. Settings
  3. Resources [side menu]
  4. Select and edit the resource(s) you want to enable for payment.
  5. Link the resource to an existing web user using the radio button.

Verify Web User Roles

Ensure the web user role includes:

  • "Resources – Can take payment on device"

  • "Financial – Can create and edit invoices"

  1. Navigate to: [Top menu] Account settings (icon)
  2. Settings
  3. Web Users [side menu]
  4. Roles.
  5. Select and edit the resource(s) to confirm the roles.

Resources may need to log out and back into the BigChange App for changes to take effect.


Enable Share Link on the Device

Configuring Share Link for Payment

  • Required for Android 5.23.0 and iOS 6.17.0 and above.
  • Navigate to: [Top menu] Account settings (icon)
    • Settings
    • General account settings [Quick links menu]
    • Jobs on Device section.
  • Select the following options:
    • Resources can ask customers to sign remotely or share payment links via QR code.
    • Resources can ask customers to sign remotely or share payment links via SMS (sent from BigChange).
    • Resources can ask customers to sign remotely or share payment links via sharing link.

SMS are charged at £0.05+VAT per 160 character message. Messages over 160 characters will be sent as multiple SMS.


Taking a Payment on the Device

Processing Payments on the Device

  • Start a job on the device.
  • Add predefined invoice items and verify job rates to populate a cost total.

  • Upon job completion, select "TAKE PAYMENT."

  • Review the line items on the preview screen.

  • Select "SHARE PAYMENT LINK" to generate an invoice.

  • Choose a method to share the payment link: "QR code," "Send SMS via BigChange," or "Share."

  • The customer receives a URL link to securely enter payment details.

Android 5.23.0 and iOS 6.17.0 versions include functionality to refresh the preview page and determine sharing options.


Completing the Payment

  • The customer fills in their card details on the payment page and selects "Pay Now."

  • A receipt page is displayed to confirm payment completion.

  • The system automatically marks the invoice as paid, providing real-time visibility for the accounts team.
