Understanding Import and Export Blueprints

BigChange offers powerful tools for importing and exporting large volumes of data quickly and efficiently.
Import Blueprints allow you to map external spreadsheet columns to BigChange headers, saving time and ensuring accuracy.
Export Blueprints define the data to be included in each column, ensuring only necessary information is downloaded.

Creating Import Blueprints

Import Blueprints can be used for various data types, including jobs, stock, contacts, and more.

Creating an Import Blueprint

Navigate to: [Top menu] Account settings (icon).
Settings.
[side menu] Forms
Import/Export Blueprints.
Select 'Add' to open a new window for creating a blueprint.
Fill in the form with the following details:
1. Name: Assign a name to your blueprint.
2. Group: Choose the group this blueprint will apply to, such as jobs or stock.
3. Type: Select Import, Export, or Import/Export.

Column Mapping

Once the form is completed, a 'Column Mapping' section will appear.
Select a Column letter to determine the display order.
Choose the corresponding BigChange field for each column.
Use the plus/minus icons to add or delete columns.
Save the blueprint once all columns are mapped.

Using a Blueprint to Import Data

After creating a blueprint, you can import data into BigChange.
Navigate to the relevant section, such as Schedule, and select the Import button.

Choose the blueprint and the Excel file to import.
The blueprint automatically matches columns, streamlining the import process.

Speeding Up the Import Process

Create a bookmark for frequent imports by selecting the Save current view as favourite icon.
Use the Views icon for quick navigation in future imports.
