Accessing the Search Box
The Search Box is located in the top right-hand corner of the BigChange site. To access the Search function, simply click on the box. A popup will appear with various categories that you can select for your search.
Using the Search Box
To use the Search Function, follow these steps:
-
Tick the box next to one or more of the desired categories in the popup. These categories help to narrow down your search to relevant areas.
-
Type in the first four characters of your search. After typing, you will be prompted to press return.
-
The list of results will be displayed below the search box. If there is no result within the selected category, the system will automatically search in the other options. This ensures that you don't miss out on any potential matches for your search.
What to do if 'Search anything' is bringing back no results
If an item cannot be searched via the 'Search anything' bar it will most likely be due to the following reason:
We only index reference numbers to be available for search anything if the section is ‘active’, i.e. it has had an item activity in the past 7 days
- Jobs - Based on scheduled planned time, a job must have a planned start time within the last week.
- Financial Document - We only store one date against an invoice which is shared for creation and invoice date, this date needs to be within the last week.
- Stock - Based on any stock item being created or moved with the last week.
Each item activation is separate, so if a job has been planned in the last 7 days, but not an invoice, you can search for a job reference with Search anything but not an invoice reference.
Conclusion
The Search Box in BigChange is a powerful tool that allows you to quickly and efficiently find what you're looking for within the site. By understanding how to access and use this function, you can significantly enhance your user experience and productivity on the BigChange System.
